Pupil Driving Test Questions
Will I fail if I hit the kerb during a reversing manoeuvre?

Although not absolutely certain, it's more likely, but can depend on circumstances at the time. Was it just a light tap against the kerb, before the candidate moved forward and corrected it, or did the car hit the kerb more aggressively?

Remember, the pavement is for pedestrians. If you hit the kerb, as well as being dangerous to pedestrians, it could also damage the vehicle wheels or body work.

At test standard, candidates should be comfortable controlling the car and maintaining an adequate distance from the kerb.

The examiner has to think beyond the test and ask themselves - if I pass this candidate, will they be a danger to other road users and pedestrians?

At the end of a parallel park, the vehicle should be reasonably close to the kerb, up to 6 to 8 inches away, and shouldn't be a hazard to other road users.
